The Science Behind the Flex
The memory metal at the core of Flexon frames is a nickel-titanium alloy called Nitinol, originally developed for missile heat shields before Marchon adapted it for eyewear in 1988. It’s this material, not just clever hinge engineering, that lets a Flexon frame be bent, sat on or twisted and spring back into shape — and Flexon frames are around 25% lighter than conventional metal frames as a result.
