To celebrate the new range of frames and sunglasses from Mulberry, here is a short look at the Mulberry brand, where they came from and what you can expect from them.
Founded in 1971 Mulberry was started in Somerset by Roger Saul. In 1982 the first Mulberry store in London opens in Gees court, where there is still a Mulberry store today. It was in 2003 when the now famous Bayswater bag was introduced, a firm favourite of Kate Moss, it quickly became a fashion icon. More recently in 2013, a second factory in Somerset opens firmly placing them a British manufacturer.
Mulberry is an iconic British fashion brand with design headquarters in London led by Creative Director Johnny Coca. With a strong heritage in leather goods, Mulberry creates stylish, functional products for modern lives.
Originally a family-run business, today Mulberry is a global brand with more than 120 stores worldwide.

Now with 2 UK based factories in Somerset, it is the largest manufacturer of luxury leather goods in the UK, employing 600 people and manufacturing approximately 50% of Mulberry bags. This commitment to British manufacturing and dedication to nurturing craftsmanship and talent is embodied in their partnership with Bridgwater College and the Mulberry Apprenticeship Programme, that trans the next generation of craftspeople and manufacturing leaders.
Mulberry today offers a unique point of view on heritage. They continue to celebrate the contradictions of a truly British identity, looking back to archives and rich British traditions and examining them from a new perspective. A sense of the past reinvented with the spirit of now. Heritage yet modern, classic, yet unclassic.
