Energy Efficient Lighting Now Complete In All Our Practices

In February we finished a project which we began last year, with the last filament bulb light being removed from our Newark practice and being replaced by LED lighting. We now have energy-efficient lighting throughout our branches in Newark, Sileby, Anstey, Birstall.

A local electrical company has been working with us to complete the work, one practice at a time as we work through the different branches, changing the fittings and lights, whilst making sure to keep disruption to a minimum.

Sileby was completed during its refurbishment in January 2019 and Newark was the last to be complete.

LED lighting has many advantages over conventional lighting and so the decision to make the change was an easy one. Our new LED Lights are:

• Better for the environment
• Don’t waste energy and are more efficient
• Are brighter and make it easier for our patients to view our full range of frames and styles
• Are more reliable
• And have a longer life

In Newark, all non-public areas such as staff rooms, corridors and stairs have sensors for the lighting. These light up these specific areas when movement is detected within the room. Thus not wasting energy lighting areas that are not being used.

LED lighting is highly efficient. It provides more light, produces less heat and uses 85% less electricity when compared to conventional lighting.

As a business, we are working hard to become the greenest in Newark, Anstey, Birstall & Sileby. By investing in LED lighting and removing our inefficient conventional lighting, we are getting closer to our goal.
